Why Windows Streak
Streaks come from three things, and none of them are the cleaner working too fast.
Residue. Too much detergent left on the glass dries into a film. Less soap, more rinse.
Drying too early. In Ipoh’s heat, glass in direct sun dries before it can be squeegeed. That’s why exterior windows get done on the shaded side of the house first, or early in the day.
A dirty blade. A squeegee blade that’s picked up grit drags it across the glass and leaves lines. Wiping the blade between passes matters more than the technique.
Getting those three right is the whole job. It’s straightforward work, but it’s the reason a professional finish looks different from a newspaper-and-vinegar attempt.
Interior vs Exterior
Interior glass is mostly dust, fingerprints, cooking film near the kitchen and the occasional insect mark. It’s quick work, and the fiddly part is the frame and track rather than the pane.
Exterior glass in Ipoh collects road dust, rain spotting, hard-water marks from sprinklers, and algae film on shaded panes. Road-facing units on busy streets are noticeably worse. Exterior work sometimes needs a pre-rinse before any detergent touches the glass, because rubbing dry grit across a pane is how scratches happen.
Frames, Grilles and Tracks
The glass is only part of the result. A spotless pane in a dusty frame still looks dirty.
Tracks in particular collect a compacted mix of dust and moisture that a cloth just smears. They get brushed out and vacuumed before any wet work starts, then wiped. Grilles, common on Malaysian windows, take longer than the glass itself because each bar is a separate surface.
Reaching High Windows
Upper-floor windows on a double-storey home are reachable from the ground with telescopic extension poles fitted with a brush or squeegee head. That’s safer and faster than ladders on uneven ground, and it’s how most Ipoh homes get done.
Where a window genuinely can’t be reached from outside — an enclosed light well, for instance — we’ll say so upfront rather than promising a result we can’t deliver safely.
When to book windows
Right after exterior washing, not before. Washing a wall above a clean window undoes the work. This is part of our pressure washing and window cleaning service for exactly that reason.
Bundling Saves a Call-Out
If you’re already booking a driveway or porch wash, add the windows to the same visit. Water access, equipment and the team are all on site, so the marginal cost is much lower than booking glass separately a month later.

How Often Windows Actually Need Doing
For most Ipoh homes, two to four times a year is the honest answer for exterior glass, and interior glass can stretch longer unless you cook heavily near a window.
A few things shorten the interval:
Living on a main road. Traffic dust settles constantly and shows up on glass faster than on any other surface.
Sprinklers or a garden hose hitting the glass. Hard water dries into mineral spotting that gets harder to remove the longer it sits.
Being near construction. Any building work nearby puts fine dust on every pane within range.
Heavy shade. Glass that stays damp develops the same algae film that porches do, particularly around the frame edges.
Cooking style. A kitchen window near a wok takes on a greasy film that plain water won’t shift.
Worth knowing: hard water spotting becomes permanent if it’s left long enough. The minerals etch very slightly into the glass surface, and at that point cleaning stops helping. If you have sprinkler overspray hitting windows regularly, that’s the one case where staying ahead of it genuinely matters rather than just looking better.
